In 1996 Janx Enterprises engaged in its first Internet business venture as a web site management consultant and service provider for the legendary rock band Deep Purple. The relationship grew in 1998 when Deep Purple's management team asked Janx Enterprises to provide them an e-commerce storefront that would tie into their official website. The solution was delivered under our new company CyberMusic, which was then empowered by Deep Purple's management team to operate all facets of their new global distribution channel.
CyberMusic's plug-n-play software solution would provide retailers selling goods on the Internet a secure environment for order processing, inventory management, accounting services, billing, returns and shipments. Retail customers purchasing goods through their sites did so with a secure shopping cart, created with a custom e-commerce engine utilizing Verisign credit verification services. The technology was built on a Microsoft NT IIS 4 server utilizing Active Server Pages connecting to a Microsoft SQL 6.5 Database. Custom COM Objects for the e-commerce portion were programmed in Visual Basic and registered with Microsoft Transaction Server. A design, marketing and merchandising service component was also added to the business model.
Additional artists included in the artist direct merchandising portal were Dream Theater, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Bruce Hornsby, Shawn Colvin and Stuart Smith.
